If you have been to Quiapo, you will feast your eyes with tons of cheap and pirated things- from electronic gadgets, dvds, clothes and even the most peculiar of all things- things that are often kept underground.
The city could be considered as the “Abortion Capital of the Philippines”. In here you will see vendors seemingly selling so-called alternative medicines ranging from roots, leaves and the likes. However, they also have possession of some goods and services that are not accepted by our statutory laws. Cytotec, a drug that is known to cure ulcer is the one that is often used to induce the removal of a fetus; also they do offer Dilation and Currettage (D &C ) or more locally known as “Raspa”, a method which is normally used to clean the uterus of a woman. It is often the case that Raspa is used whenever an induced abortion has not been successful. It is often the case that Raspa is done not really by medical professionals, but of Unlicensed Nurses, Nursing Student Drop-outs, Unlicensed Midwifes and the likes. This method could be very dangerous as such normally require general anesthesia and a very hygienic and safe process. However, normally since the method of Raspa done by abortionist in the Philippines are made underground and the person doing such lacks the appropriate knowledge, skills, and other resources, providing Raspa is something that could cause a woman’s life.
All over the world, there are only 27 countries wherein abortion is permitted according to demand. By the demand, I meant that a woman can undergo such a procedure without necessarily providing a reason that is in accordance with any medical, legal or in some cases religious standards. The countries that I am talking about are: Albania, Australia
Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Croatia, Cuba, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Korea (North), Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mozambique, Netherlands, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, United States and Vietnam (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division, 2002). Provided such, we can only deduce that the perceptive of abortion being a “right” has not been perpetuated in most countries around the world, more so in Asia.
In the Philippines, abortion could only be done only in instances wherein the mother’s life is in danger. Albeit, other than that, abortion is a criminal act as stipulated by the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines as enacted in 1930. Articles 256, 258 and 259 clearly states that any woman caught undergoing such a procedure would be imprisoned; and at the same time any person caught may it be the parent, physician or midwife would also be put behind bars.
The ethical and moral issues concerning abortion are countless. Pro-life activists are arguing that the fetus is already considered as human, and so termination of its life is considered murder. In terms of our statutory laws, the Revised Penal Code, Article 256 clearly states that any woman caught undergoing such a procedure will suffer:
1. The penalty of reclusion temporal, if he shall use any violence upon the person of the pregnant woman.
2. The penalty of prision mayor if, without using violence, he shall act without the consent of the woman.
3. The penalty of prision correccional in its medium and maximum periods, if the woman shall have consented.
The dilemma that has been brought forth by both moral and statutory arguments are further enhanced by the stand of the Catholic Church. Of course, it need not be emphasized that the church is so much against abortion. The Catholic church views abortion as a “grave evil” (Catholic Answers, 2004) and any person caught doing such should be penalized according to ex talionis or “law of retribution”. Such a principle emphasizes the so-called “eye for eye, tooth for tooth, life for life”. It has been argued by the church that the aborted babies must gain justice due to the harm caused to them by their mothers.
In effect of all of these, abortion most specially in the Philippines are done underground and are performed by incompetent and unknowledgeable people.
Abortion accounts to atleast 13% of all maternal mortality around the world (Berer 2001, p. 1 as cited from Whittaker, 2004, p.148). All over the world, 35 out of 1,000 women perform such a procedure each year. In addition with this, 20 million women have abortions in certain countries where such is prohibited by the law. Despite all of these occurrences, the acknowledgment of human and public health costs of illegal abortion remains to be an elusive goal to most countries.
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on Decembr 18 1979 and was entered into force on September 3, 1981. The Philippines is one of the state parties who signed for the convetion. Our country signed the aforementioned on July 15 1980, and the laws of CEDAW became fully operational on August 5, 1981.
CEDAW clearly affirmed that the relevance of the affirmation of the rights of women to decide freely in terms of the number and intervals of their children. In addition with this, they should not be denied of information, education and MEANS to enable them to exercise such rights (Article 16.e). In addition with this, CEDAW also recommends the discussion within state parties abortion as an integral part of family planning services. More importantly, the UN Monitoring Committee for CEDAW in 1999 specified that legislations that criminalizes abortion should be amended in order to withdraw punitive measures imposed upon women (150-151).
The stand of our country in terms of the legalization of abortion still remains to be very far fetched. The strong hold of the Catholic Church and the seemingly Medieval perception on women most specially in rural areas, domesticated women, uneducated women and women socialized in the Patriarchal paradigm makes pro-right endeavors impossible. The right to choose- freedom- rationality- is one of the basic universal and inherent right of every person. Our country remains to hold on the argument of abortion in relation to Christianity, rationalized by certain moral principles that are archaic and barbaric.
The rationale behind every statutory law imposed is centered on the preservation of life, liberty and property (as stated by Thomas Hobbes in the Social Contract). Filipinas, though significantly gaining various political and social rights still remain to be discriminated in certain areas most specially in areas that are supposedly aimed to explore, develop and protect her sexuality, reproductive capability and her overall welfare.
Even until at the present times, women are still objectified and chained. Some of us, may never be aware or even wanted to accept these forms of inequality. Our socialization made us want to accept the norms, the laws, the culture- yet there is a reality that we should assert. And this realty is something that is not evil nor will bring us to the depths of hell. Women, particularly women in developing countries such as ours should concern herself more than her career, political rights, social functions, and matters of relationship. There are more pressing problems that are left under the dark.
Would we condemn or would we support the right to choose freely?

If a woman finally decides to abort her baby, why prevent her? If she isn’t ready to have the child, what good is it to keep it?
We do not have the right to decide on other people’s lives, especially if it’s a baby – since it cannot decide for itself, they say. But if she kept it, but doesn’t want it anyway, wouldn’t it hurt the baby more?

I think its high time women are enlightened about things like this. There should be proper guidance – would you prefer that more and more people suffer, much worse die because they choose to do abortion “underground” since it is illegal? Is this really how the society shows its care for the people?

I won’t mention my personal opinion on the matter of abortion but I will do mention that the Catholic Church is the number one opponent of abortion rights in the entire world.
As much as one in four pregnancies end in a miscarriage or spontaneous natural abortion. If you add up all the pregnancies in the entire world in a single year, the figure for miscarriages amounts to hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) each year. In other words, god himself is the great abortionist on the planet. Ironic, eh?

hi vera, a clarification:
you said, “Women, particularly women in developing countries such as ours should concern herself more than her career, political rights, social functions, and matters of relationship.”
“Women, particularly women in developing countries such as ours should concern herself more than…”—> concern herself with that? or do you mean women whould be concerned about themselves?
as for reaction, I agree that women should be given the right to choose whether to abort a child or not and determine their own lives… however I think this should be balanced by respect for the right of others and the ideals, mores and standards of one’s immediate community, given that what we do affects not only ourselves but others as well.
It’s just very unfortunate that we live in a hypocritical Catholic society where the Church claims to care for the lives of unborn children, but once these children are BORN, do nothing to help THEM. WE know for example that many Catholic schools exact very high tuition fees and seem to be getting richer and richer, but instead of spending for the beautification of their schools why don’t they build orphanages and help street children instead?
Personally Im for legalization of abortion but I would not support giving abortions that would endanger the life of the mother, such as those in the third trimester perhaps. for me society should step in and safeguard the mother’s life AND if the baby will be born without the mother taking responsibility, then society should care for the baby.

Age ten: wrote a report about abortion, made my teacher cry. I got an F because she agreed with abortion. I was never treated the same in that class.
Present age (mid teen): educate teens my age about abortion

The issue is whether abortion is right or wrong. What the last three stooges above are answering whether they think abortion is murder. Considering abortion as murder is an entirely separate and different issue.

Hmm… I find it amusing that the pro-lifers’ comments either don’t make sense or have incredibly poor grammar, spelling, punctuation and an appalling lack of capitalization.
But I digress.
Yes, abortion does end the life of a fetus. There’s no debating that. However, while it is in the woman’s body, it is a parasite. For those who sputter and guffaw at my audacity, here is the definition of parasite:
An organism living in, with, or on another organism. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/parasite)
It is simply a truth.
Would you condemn someone for having a tapeworm removed? After all, that tapeworm is a life. However, since it is living off of your body and you don’t want it to, you get rid of it. Same with an abortion.
How could it be “right” to force a woman to be pregnant against her will?
So-called “pro-lifers” aren’t pro-life at all. They’re pro-fetus. Human fetus. After that, they don’t care. And they certainly don’t care a lick about the mother. To them, she’s just a convenient incubator.
Restrictive abortion laws are draconian and archaic, backed by equally barbaric religion. In this age- one of science, reason and logic- such beliefs and practices should be obsolete and intolerable.

I believe that any person who gets an abortion or believes that there is nothing wrong with an abortion should be ripped to shreds so then maybe they will know what they are doing to their babies. Fetus means little person in latin and no matter if the baby is 2 days old or nine months old, it is murder. i hate all you fucken baby killen bastards your all worthless peices of crap that need to rot in a hole of shit.

i think it’s disguisting for people to refer to children as “parasites”. how dare you abort a child after you are the one who is reponsible for it’s existence in the first place?
i know that some people are raped, but i still feel that getting an abortion is just as bad as shooting someone in the face.
i understand that some just dont see it that way, but hear me out.
it’s not about the decision of the woman anymore.
what about the innocent helpless child.? doesnt it get a choice?he is not just a blob of cells, its a human being. AND I BELIEVE THAT ANY HUMAN BEING SHOULD GET A CHANCE TO LIVE A LIFE IN THIS WORLD, EVEN IF IT IS A LOVE CHILD OR A CHILD OF RAPE. THAT DOESNT MEAN IT ISNT A PERSON.

Of course, the best is prevention (to encourage teenager to protect themwelves and so on…), but what can we do if the girl has been raped or is simply too young?
We can’t force her it’ll ruin all her life and the baby’s life too (he will feel unwanted).
Of course, there’s the three months limit (before 3 months the “baby” is just a bunch of cells, without conscience), because above it, it’s a total butchery.
Women have the choice to do whatever they want with their body until three months.
It is not up to the parents or to the boyfriend to tell her if she has to keep the child, even if she must consult them. The final decision is hers. Better raise well a child, in proper conditions than to avoid “killing it” (he doesn’t feel anything) and make him suffer mentally and socially all his life from lack of money, maturity or love.
To all those who think that they should make it illegal just think about this : if you 12 year old daughter gets raped, and gets HIV, how would YOU react? Honestly. Trauma for the girl (she’ll see in her baby her rapist and “killer” only) + dubble costs because of the tritherapies.

I had an abortion exactly three years ago today. I regret aborting the baby but I still consider myself a “pro-choicer”. I think people make mistakes and having an abortion could ensure a more successful future for the mother (she can go to college, get a career, be an average taxpaying citizen as opposed to being another “baby momma” on welfare costing the average taxpayer $$). I fully believe that until the child is actually born, it is a parasite to the mother. It lives within her, depending on her body to survive. Since the mother can do what she wishes with her body, that right should extend to anything living within. The only thing I DO NOT agree with are those women who use abortion as a method of birth control. When my abortion was done (it was very painful) there was a woman in the post-operation room bragging about how it was her 7th aborion. Now that’s sick. People that do not want children should take the necessary precautions, but there are still those little chances. I, for example, got pregnant on the pill. I’m still with the guy (3 years later) and its a little sad to think we could have had the child, but I’ve got a lot of things going on in my life right now. A child would have made it that much more difficult to achieve my goals. Oh well, sometimes I question whether an abortion was right for me, but I still whole heartedly believe in the right for a woman to choose.

What I can not understand is in this day and age why people are still getting pregnant. Dear God! We ALL know how it works to get one! Hell after what you see on T.V. and music videos I’ll bet a 5 year old could tell you how to get a baby! How many ways is there to not get pregnant! No really think about it…. Now I know you can take the pill and still get pregnant at least you tried.( but not hard enough if you ask me). But your not gonna tell me that everybody who is pregnant use a pill or condom and oops something went wrong. If you don’t want a child then use the pill, use a condom, spermical jellie, foam, diaphram all at the same time. If you still end up with a kid!!! Then you should damn well keep it cause that is one hell of a kid that can beat all those odds!!!! I honestly (this is of course only my opinion) believe if you get pregnant then on some subconscious level. You AND the man involved wanted a child. Because their are just to many ways not to get pregnant now a days.
Now as far as rape goes. I do not think any woman should HAVE to carry a child of rape. That is cruel and unusual punishment. She did not have a choice in that matter. If she should choose to carry that child that is for her to decide.
I also agree if the pregnacy will kill the mother then she has the right to terminate if so she chooses.
As far as other abortions go I don’t agree with it, because I think there are to many ways to prevent it.

I have had a child from rape that I love very much but if I had the resources to have an abortion back then I probably would have. How an I supposed to tell my daughter this? 4 years later and I still dont know the answer. That is something that I have to think about everyday. I also lost my husband because he couldnt deal with this. I was the one that was raped and forced to have a fatherless child and he left me. sometimes things arent in black and white like people make it seem. maybe there is no wrong or right in this situation. adoption to me is inconceivable. once your child is here I feel like it is yours for life. but you cant miss something you never had.

In response to AngryReptileKeeper (and many others like him/her) who wrote:

The “parasite argument” is one of the most flawed and illogical arguments in the case against abortion. Pro-choicers generally use it as a way to dehumanize the being inside of a womb. It does sound more cold and scientific, doesn’t it? By the same definition, however, born as well as unborn children are parasites, dependent on and living with their parents to survive. And we are talking about human life, not animal–that tapeworm is living, but it is not a human organism.
Even though a 2 year old is technically a parasite, we do not have the “choice” to end his life because he was conceived by rape or incest or out of wedlock or because he is mentally retarded or has spina bifida or because his parents would be able to go to college if he was gone. If those reasons are valid before birth, why not after birth too? No one questions the depravity of killing a child outside of the womb…why is it different for one still living inside his mother? Terminating the pregnancy at any point is intentionally stopping life AFTER it has begun (the difference between abortion and birth control). And that, I believe, is the definition, by our courts and government, of murder.

If pro-lifers really cared about life we wouldn’t force a woman to be pregnant!
Problems with this ideology: How many women, other than those who have been raped, don’t know what it takes in order to get pregnant? Other than cases of rape women are not forced to have sex (i.e. reproduce, it is called reproductive sex for a reason…) or in other words put themselves at the risk of getting pregnant. If they get pregnant when they didn’t want to, wasn’t it their own irresponsibility in the first place? It’s like if a guy wants to go drinking with his buddies but doesn’t want to get drunk and cheat on his girlfriend. If he gets drunk and cheats is it because anyone forced him to be in a state of drunkeness, or was it his own fault for going drinking when if he really cared he wouldn’t have taken the chance by drinking alcohol?
Let’s get back to the rape issue. I’m not even going to pretend I can understand what such an experience is like, however the worst parts would obviously be during and coping with the shock afterwards. Is it fair to say that the pregnancy reminds a person of the rapist? Yes, because it never would have happened if they had not been raped. The mistake people tend to make though is that the baby being formed is an awful reminder of a horrible event, when in fact it should be a blessing. There is nothing more beautiful than a mother carrying child, so instead of balking at the idea I think more females would look to the baby as a reminder of things to be grateful for. The obvious one that comes to mind is that they lived through the ordeal (others aren’t so lucky) and they should pass on that tiniest gift of life onto their child, who had no choice and was forced into this scenario like they were. Sure they suffered, but they don’t think they are causing pain by killing what could be a beautiful child? It’s ironic really that a woman who would suffer through a horrible event because they couldn’t control the disgusting man is now forcing their will onto an innocent child yet to be born. If this is monstrously ironic, what then is abortion when the woman had full control of the scenario and got pregnant when she didn’t want to yet continued to have sex regardless? In my view I would call it gross irresponsibility, and that they obviously have no right to being responsible with their own choices when they already made the bad choice of having sexual relations in the first place.
The idea is that it is the woman’s body.. it is her choice what to do with it. This concept is pretty popular, but in this case it isn’t adding the little catch phrase at the end (as long as nobody gets hurt). Now if you want to deny this is the case, please tell me how you define morality other than the popular, “It’s okay as long as nobody gets hurt,” escape clause. Obviously the fetus is being hurt, from the small research I’ve done on Google women who have abortions suffer from mental/emotional stresses and harms (along with physical complications at times) and even if there wasn’t any harm done to the mother there is a flaw with this sort of mentality anyway. Based on the “somebody getting hurt” clause, that would make smoking and drinking immoral/illegal actions since it has short term consequences (person getting drunk and killing someone) and long term consequences (liver failure or lung cancer), but those two actions are both considered to be choices people should be able to make. What I have to ask is why? What makes drinking and smoking, which hurts people, moral things to do (or choices and freedoms people should have)? I think there’s more to this argument then, “It’s my body and I’ll do what I want to,” especially since the fetus would say, “It’s my body and I’ll live if I want to.” In actuality the woman IS enforcing her choice upon her unborn child, since if the fetus were to “pick” it would be born (unless something like a tragic miscarriage were to happen) so the idea that we are stealing freedoms from women is absurd. The woman is trying to steal freedoms from her own child!
Along with this concept is the idea that if we really cared about people we would make abortion legal, since if it isn’t women go underground, get illegal abortions, and suffer because the people who do them don’t care if the woman gets hurt or not (and sometimes they die). If this really were the case, we should make prostitution, alcohol (for all ages), drugs, and sex with young children legal since people suffer when these actions are made illegal. Prostitutes and young women suffer from pimp abuse and forced sexual trafficking so it should be made legal to stop them from being abused. Children of all ages should be allowed to drink, since they can get into the wrong kind of crowds when they make the irresponsible choice to break the law and drink with people twice their age and get hurt and abused. Drugs should be legalized because it’s our bodies so we should be able to hurt them with foreign substances if we wish and when it is illegal people get hurt by mobsters and drug dealers. Sex with children should be legalized, because it should be a young child’s choice whether or not they want to sleep with perverted, old men (it’s their body after all) and old men who want to sleep with kids sometimes molest and rape them when it’s illegal. Right… and I’m the one who doesn’t care…

ok i am a Catholic and God is NOT an abortionist! God GIVES life! everything happens for a reason so sure some children might die naturally in the womb, but we should protect life from CONCEPTION to NATURAL death!!
as for “choice” bullcrap!………..
its a CHILD not a CHOICE get it right! why would you want to kill a child? i don’t get that! i mean there is ADOPTION! TONS of couples are wanting to adopt a child because they can’t have one of their own… for God’s sake I’m adopted and i thank God everyday that my mom chose life!
“its their body” well yes, but THAT IS DISGUSTING!!!! WANTING CHILDREN TO SLEEP WITH OLD PERVERTED MEN!? HAVING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL LEGAL!? WHAT KIND OF SICK PERSON ARE YOU???
“The woman is trying to steal freedoms from her own child!” I WIll agree with you on that, the child wants life (i know i do and i’m glad i have it!) thats what people think and do when they say “my body, me, me, me and i choose abortion, i’m gonig to kill my child” just think, if your mom had an abortion because it was her body, would you be here right now???
plus lets not get into Post abortion syndrome… that haunts women for years. i read a book about a woman who had 7 abortions and she said that after a year ALL SEVEN children started appearing to her and kept asking her “Mama, why did you kill us?”
she ended up dying shortly afterwards… (not by suicide though but she was driven crazy…)

Thia ia wrong very wrong….I don’t understand how you can see and know what abortion is and you’re still pro-choice. Can you honestly say after watching an abortion video you are still pro-choice? Honestly? HONESTLY?!Yes it is your body but its your baby’s body too. No one should judge you but just like you, a baby has rights. How can you honestly deny something so little and helpless, a human being, the simplest rigth EVERYONE should have no matter how old they are…LIFE. The baby didn’t do anything wrong and why should it suffer for irresponsiblity if his mother? Im not judging or critczing…..because i IT IS a WOMAN’s CHOICE. But isn’t the responsiblity of every perosen the RIGHT choice? Its life…..Is it seriously that hard to adopt?

Man, this is a strange topic. People here are all over the spectrum (die-hard pro-lifer to save-the-whales-but-kill-off-our-own-species anti-lifer)
Ironic, we can save disease-ridden vermin, but we fail to grasp the concept of life for our own species. Also Ironic, these so-called pro-choicers (as noted in their true nature above) are the same people that cringe at the very thought of capital punishment for mass-murderers. Below are 2 examples of would-be abortion victims.
1. A boy with multiple heart defects that would account for seemingly unending doctor’s visits, ER visits, and a fortune’s worth of medical bills. To top it all off, he would have chronic ADHD, and, because of his heart defects, can’t be treated due to the fact that ADHD meds would kill him. This was able to be seen with genetic testing and ultrasounds.
Today he is 7 and is the sweetest little boy you could ever meet. He is my step-brother and I can’t imagine life without him.
2. A girl who would be the first child of her newly-wed parents. Mom and dad have both had their bouts with depression and thoughts of suicide. Dad has chronic depression and has just won his first battle with cancer only four short years before. There was a 25% chance that this child would develop tricotilomania (boy, I hope I spelled that right) and a lesser chance that she would also develop Anti-social Personality Disorder/Psychopathic Personality Disorder, a disorder most infamously seen in the serial-killer RDK (even though she was not likely to become a serial-killer, the strain on those around her would be great). It was also almost obvious that she would also develop depression. The treatments from her dad’s cancer might also leave her susceptible to thyroid cancer, or even something much worse.
Today she is awaiting her 13th birthday and her upcoming first day of high-school. She has had severe depression at times, but has gotten over it without the aid of medication or therapy. It is true that she has tric, but is continuing to work at it. It is believed that she is developing Psychopathic personality disorder, so making friend is a bit hard. She is still likely to have some form of cancer later in life. Her favorite shirt says “I Survived Roe v. Wade”. This comment would not be here without her.
I do believe abortion is COMPLETELY wrong and is a violation of the child’s right to live. I will, however, make the exception of the woman whose life is threatened by the pregnancy. But then it is her choice and her choice alone whose life is more valuable.
Because of my “special” mental state, I have HORRIBLE trouble with authority when they do something I don’t believe in. Heck, I’m spending a year to perfect my speech against abortion and Planed Parenthood (who, let’s face it, should be called Planned Murderhood and they care more about their sale of the pill than the health of the women who use it. As a nail on their coffin, their founder was noted to have said that she wished to rid the world of “human weeds” and by her standards, I am definitely a weed along with my little step-brother). When that lie-spreading pile of bull dung comes to my health class trying to spread the untrue doctrine of the humanistic cult, I am going to totally milk my right to freedom of speech and ROYALY P!$$ HER OFF! And I can tell you it is gonna be fun, and keep checking on youtube for the recorded result when this happens.
Basically my argument goes like this: 2.5 children are killed by legalized abortion every minute, so for you math wizes, that means 1,310,400 (that’s ONE MILLION THREE HUNDRED TEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED) beautiful children are victimized by their mother’s selfishness every year IN THE US ALONE. So in one year, the US allows 1/6 of the world’s total population to be brutally murdered in a most painful and disgusting way. Essentially if our parents decided they didn’t want us, out of 30, only 25 would be here today. The number 1,310,400 doesn’t account for the children those aborted kids could have had, and their kids. But if you say most of those children are products of rape, you are sadly mistaken. Rape only accounts for .01% of abortions each year. So, if we made abortion illegal with the exceptions of rape and the mother’s life in danger from the pregnancy we would save 1,310,269 children every year and their potential for a new generation.
Most of you are probably thinking “This chick is nuts, what’s so wrong with abortion?” well, to answer your question, it is murder that not only ends the child’s life, but is likely to end your chances of being able to have another kid. It can also cause infection and psychological disorders in the mother that could lead to suicide. And to you, death-bringer, who would do your job if YOUR mom decided you were going to be too much trouble or she felt like she couldn’t stand the pain of childbirth?
Another question, since your organization is bent on the destruction of human weeds, are you saying that my mom should have aborted me, because I’m not perfect?
It’s pretty depressing hearing that I probably should be dead. And, for your murder excuses of: “It makes me look bad”, “It isn’t perfect”, “It’s not fully developed, so it isn’t human”, and “I can’t do my job with it around” you can apply those very same excuses to this situation.
a) I’m making you look bad,
b) I’m far from perfect,
c) The human brain does not fully develop until the early 20’s. I haven’t reached that age, thus I guess I’m not human,
d) It seems I am making it really hard for you to do your job.
Does that mean you can shove scissors up my head? Or suck me up with an over-grown dust-buster? If you would say no, that means you do in fact have a sliver of possible goodness in you. It also means your anti-life arguments are moot.

I had an abortion when i was 19, and everyday have to live with that CHOICE! I still have mixed feelings about the situation because i have a little boy and a baby one the way. If i would have kept that baby i wouldn’t have my son that i have today. Also i wouldn’t have the baby i am now pregnant with. I love my son more than anything in the world, and am sure i will love this one the same. Today i would have to say that i personally would never get another abortion again, if the baby is perfectly healthy that is. HOW EVER i am for abortion. (pro-choice) but i do think there is no reason why a baby should be aborted in the third trimaster. There have been reports that anyone can look up on the internet that show a baby with no health problems, born anywhere in the third trimaster will live. There are reports of babies living in the second trimaster. I do believe that if you get pregnant due to rape and want to have an abortion it’s your right. But abortions are not form of birth control. Besides that, some people don’t report rape and don’t even go to the ER to get checked out. The reason why i’m saying that is because there are cases where we don’t find out we’re pregnant untill early in the second trimaster, i.e. when it’s too late to get a rape kit done. I also believe that parcial birth abortions are crewl and in humain. I was with a friend while she was having this done and when the baby came out and the doc. shuved that long needle into the spine, i saw the baby tense up and relax as it died. It’s horible!

ok umm it might be your body and your choice but its Gods child that you are killing………. i believe that if you dont want you child then you should give it up for adoption…. there is no need for abortion there and 1000 and 1000 of women who wish they could have children but cant and you can make their dreams come true, and save a life if you would stop killing these babys and give them up for adoption…..every one and thing desierves to live….. even if its just a baby!

i had an abortion 3 months ago i fell pregnant with my ex i didnt realise until i was 7 weeks gone i told him about him and he didnt want anything to do with it he knew i never cheated yet demanded dna if i had the baby i knew i wasnt ready for the baby and he was the last person on earth i wanted a baby with i never believed in abortion and always said i would never have one but you dont understand unless you are in the situation of having a baby you dont want with someone you cant stand nobody has the right to judge anybody else i did before i was in that situation and i realise how ignorant i was what happens if your raped and you fall pregnant you got to carry on with that one too? its all different situations abd you gotta respect other peoples choices whether you like what there doing or not if you dont like it then dont do it but stay out of others peoples choices you dont know there circumstances so who are you to judge

i think that there should be a limit on how many abortions you can have like only 1…you should only have that one chance to turn things around….but you should only be able to do it before the baby is starting to develope…and under certain cercumstances…..say a girl got raped…and got pregnant…then is a time that you can get an abortion…..or your first time pregnancy….if it were accidental you should get one chance and thats it….because if you make the same mistake again thats your own fault…you should have learned your lesson before…and yeah if the baby is unwanted you can always put it up for adoption…you dont have to take care of it….there are many other ppl out there that love babies and care for them and that want them to have a life… and that cant have babies and would die to protect yours from death…and they would be more than happy to take them and give them a great life…why carry the baby until the third trimester and then kill it….i love kids and i cant stand too see them die… but lets compramise…i say there are only some reasons that a girl should be able to get an abortion…..not just because and you should only have one chance…

I had an abortion I regret it so much, even though I cant get my baby back. My opinion on this subject is that it should be kept ilegal.I’ved always wanted a child and once I had it I let it go and instead of doctors telling me its a wrong thing they told me it was for the best. But either way it wasnt their choise I’ved made a mistake and theres no words that can describe the pain.

Lets throw the RAPE and INCEST argument out the window because if the courts decided tomorrow that abortion is illegal except for cases of incest or rape the Feminists and liberals would go bonkers. They would say NO! We need full rights to kill not regulations. There needs to be reform with this issue. Roe v Wade was 35 years ago and alot has changed since then. Alot more is known about the “fetus”. Back then they didn’t know that by week 11 that child has all it’s vital organs and a beating heart. By the 4th month they are fully developed all that’s left to do is grow. Fetuses smile and cough and sneeze, stretch and blink by the beginning of the 3rd Trimester. In today’s society you can abort any child well into the 3rd trimester. And because of Partial Birth abortion, Bill Clinton has the blood of over 170,000 dead Americans on his hands. These are children that are breach birthed and then their skulls are crushed before they are born. MURDER!
How many liberals are outraged at Darfur or Auschwitz but don’t blink an eye at abortion. Bill Mahr is a chair person for PETA but he would jam an ice pick into an infant’s skull as long as it hasn’t taken a breathe. He would fight for the rights of baby lambs but not baby people.
15 year old girls need a permission slip from home to go to Six Flags on a class trip but don’t need a parent’s permission to abort their child. March of Dimes stands on the ethics of saving premature children but supports planned parenthood and their ethics to slaughter premature children. Parents can kill their Down Syndrome fetus but why not let them kill their child who was crippled in a car accident at 2 years old.
It has been said that the most popular medical “procedure” performed in the world is abortion. If that’s the case and since there is nothing wrong with burning a fetus with saline, ripping it’s limbs off, perforating it’s belly and sucking it’s insides out with a vaccum. Then reassembling the child on a table, sometimes with the heart still beating, just to make sure the job is complete. If there is nothing wrong with that than why isn’t the most popular procedure ever shown on TV? Why isn’t it ever on TLC or the Medical Channel? Because the word abortion is not as dirty as the actual procedure. If people saw or even read about the full procedure they would by up in arms. IRATE and disgusted at what goes on in that room. It’s so bad they don’t even tell the patient exactly what is being done to them. They mask it in medical terms like D&C and D&E. They NEVER show an ultrasound to the mother and they rarely provide counseling after words.
We get outraged when you see a pregnant woman is stabbed to death and the baby doesn’t survive. Are you outraged because she CHOSE to have that baby… What if I told you she was stabbed to death on her way to the abortion clinic, does that make the baby’s death LESS tragic? We live in a society that so much “about me” that no one ever thinks about the lesser person. The person who doesn’t have a voice, the person who can’t fight for their rights. The Unborn is no different then the Africa American, or the Native American or the Polish Jews. Those that have no rights need people to fight for them. That is what a Pro Lifer does.
I never mention religion once, and that’s because before it’s a religious issue, it’s a human issue. 1/3rd of the young generation in America has been aborted, 1/3rd!!! 3,500+ abortions are performed every day, innocence destroyed every minute because of a genocide.
there needs to be reform on this issue and if you ever watched “The Silent Scream” you would understand.

here are some stats from the late 90’s just to argue all the misused excuses liberals say to keep abortion legal. see below for surprising percentages
Abortion Stats & Facts…
United Stats Stats
Number of abortions per year: 1.37 Million (1996)
Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700
Who’s having abortions (age)?
52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%.
Who’s having abortions (race)?
While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.
Who’s having abortions (marital status)?
64.4% of all abortions are performed on never-married women; Married women account for 18.4% of all abortions and divorced women obtain 9.4%.
Who’s having abortions (religion)?
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as “Born-again/Evangelical”.
Who’s having abortions (income)?
Women with family incomes less than $15,000 obtain 28.7% of all abortions; Women with family incomes between $15,000 and $29,999 obtain 19.5%; Women with family incomes between $30,000 and $59,999 obtain 38.0%; Women with family incomes over $60,000 obtain 13.8%.
Why women have abortions
1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).
At what gestational ages are abortions performed:
52% of all abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy, 25% happen between the 9th & 10th week, 12% happen between the 11th and 12th week, 6% happen between the 13th & 15th week, 4% happen between the 16th & 20th week, and 1% of all abortions (16,450/yr.) happen after the 20th week of pregnancy.
Likelihood of abortion:
An estimated 43% of all women will have at least 1 abortion by the time they are 45 years old. 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion.

Suction aspiration, Dilation and Curettage, Dilation and Evacuation, Salt poisoning
(Saline injection), Prostaglandin Chemical abortion, Hystorotomy or Caesarea section, Partial
birth abortion, and infanticide are all ways to kill a baby, killing is murder, and murder is against
the law.
Abortion debates first started in 1973 when the big Roe versus Wade debate began. Jane
Roe was for abortion, and Henry Wade was against abortion. The Roe vs. Wade decision
prompted national debate that still continues throughout the United States today. Some of the
topics of debate are to what extent abortion should be legal, who can be in charge of deciding the
legality of abortion, and what the role of religious and moral views should be in political debates
like these. Since this first major debate on abortion happened and abortion was passed, there
have been many more debates and laws that have been almost passed against abortion. Why we
do not pass these laws does not make sense. If there are health issues with the mother or the
mother was raped those make our decisions for or against abortion hard to decide whether it is
right or wrong. If a woman waits though until they are about to give birth to have partial birth
abortion, they have an abortion because they don’t want to keep the baby, or they have an
abortion because their baby might have down syndrome or some other genetic disorder is just
plain cruelty to an innocent child. The mother could easily put the baby up for abortion, because
there are many families that can’t have a child and want one, or that would be glad to adopt
another child; killing your baby is flat out murder. God brought this baby into the world and we
do not and should not have the right to kill, that is why there are laws in our constitution against murder. When is it ever our decision to put someone to death? We are not the makers of life, so
we should have no say in the death of a person or in this case the death of a helpless child.

How is it that people who have never been in the situation can have so many huge opinions about abortion? I can bet that most of you have never been put in a situation where abortion was a real option. No shit no one wants to kill a child, but until that ‘child’ can maintain homeostasis then it’s not living. Simple fact of life.

ABORTION IS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE STUPID BY DRINKING AND GETTING HIGH AND HAVING UPROTECTED SEX! YOU SHOULDNT SACRIFICE A LIVING THING JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO BE A MOM AND IF YOUR SCARED DONT HAVE SEX! THATS THAT BUT PLEASE DONT GET PREGNANT ON PURPOUS AND GET AN ABORTION CUZ YOU DONT WANNA START A FAMILY WITH A GUY THAT YOU KNOW THAT WONT STAY WITH YOU FOREVER! ITS WRONG AND MANY PEOPLE GET HURT BY THIS BECAUSE WHEN YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR FIRST CHILD WITH A GUY THATS RIGHT FOR YOU AND YOU WANT KIDS, THERE IS SOMETIMES A BIG RISK THAT YOU CANT HAVE A BABY BECAUSE YOU GET AN ABORTION FIRST AND GO AND HAVE SEX AGAIN AND YOU GET TRANSMITTED DISEASES! THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT BUT ADOPT SOMEONE ELSES CHILD! ADOPTION IS A BETTER CHOICE THAN ABORTION PEOPLE PLEASE MAKE THE RIGHT DECISSONS! LET THEM LIVE!!!!!!!!!

EMMA
by the stats that I posted above it is clear that abortion has become a form of birth control.
The original ROE v Wade was the pandora’s box of a slippery slope into infant genocide.
The fact of the matter is that no, I personally never had or needed an abortion. My views stem from my moral obligation to the unborn. I never stole a car or stabbed anyone either but I know it’s wrong. As for “homeostasis” well do you consider the fact that many late term abortions are done at weeks that some premees are born and could survive. March of Dimes collects millions of dollars to support their ability to save pre-mature children. What do you say about Live abortions(where children are birthed and are left to starve to death)and or partial birth abortion(where children have been reported as kicking their legs and arms until their skull is punctured) Pro Genocide feminists are the driving force for the senseless slaughter of over 3,000 babies a day(3,700 to be more accurate). It’s sickening that there is even an argument over this. How selfish has the female become to create an actual excuse and permission to end another life just because that life is inconvenient. Since the child in the womb is a “parasite” and 100% dependent on the mother, it’s not viable and clearly can’t live on it’s own without the mother. If that’s the case babies are under that same category. Children are 100% dependent on the mother for years outside of the womb. An infant is a parasite, latched on and 100% dependent, does that mean a mother has the choice to kill her baby under that same misguided principles as abortion. Seeing as though Live abortions are allowed in this country, that answer is yes.
So no I never had to make that “choice” because my wife and I wanted children, and I was never stupid enough to be put in that situation before marriage. But I’ll say this, when my wife miscarried twice, both times the doctors wanted us to schedule a D&C, we knew that was an abortion and opted to let nature take it’s course. I read TOO MANY stories of people that were told there was no heartbeat and were told to get the D&C, decided not to get the D&C and gave birth to healthy children eight months later. I wonder how many “miscarriages” ended in abortions. I know the 2 times the pregnancies stuck past the danger window and we were asked if we wanted the Amnio test to check for Downs, we opted to not do the test because the results of the test wouldn’t change things. Choosing life is a mind set. Some people aren’t sensitive enough to realize that a child is a child no matter how small in the womb, but by week 6 there is a visible heartbeat and by week 9 the child is fully on it’s way to having all it’s vitals and parts and organs. By week 11 a complete human being is developed and just needs to grow. Most women don’t even know they are pregnant until they are 7 weeks.
It’s sad and we as humans should be ashamed.
We treat animals better, then the unborn!
Most pro choicers are advocates of animal rights

Abortions in cases of rape and incest should be mandatory. Embryos concieved this way are the seeds of an abominable act, and will themselves grow to be abominations. AS for those who’ve survived gestation? Their existence is a mistake, one that should be corrected….

Its terrible that women are using abortion as contreception, i feel thats not good, but in terms of rape, im gonna say it loud YES YES YES!
Personally if i got raped, i wouldnt keep the baby, i would abort, not to get back at the rapist, but because i wouldnt want a child netherless human being with my genes with the rapists genes out there in the world, he or she would be part of me, and part of my mother my father my brothers and sisters my future children and i couldnt have that.
When rape is involved the woman isnt given a choice on so many levels.
When I decides to have a baby with a man its special, Im saying i want my children to have your hair, your eyes, your smile, and everything that makes you you, and inturn their children , and their childrens children, and i think children of rape are just …. it defeat the analagy in the worst way possible, Sorry to all you rapebabies out there, but how a mother can ever see a child of rape as beautiful and a blessing is beyond me.
